Borderless windowed fullscreen

PostPosted by Rionsic » Sun Jul 21, 2013 8:48 am

Please tell me i will be able to play frontiers fullscreen in borderless windowed mode. I got two monitors and ALT + Tabbing is so much sell of a pain this way... ^^

I heartily concur. It's a pain in the ass playing games on a multi-monitor system if they don't support borderless windowed fullscreen.

I have just a single monitor, but in my experience games are faster and more stable, not to mention moving from one screen to another, when this mode is used. So I can live without it, but if the option is there, I will put it to use.

I have two monitors and I like the fullscreen, alt+tab isn't a real problem for me because: 1. i use tablets for other things that takes a ton of alt+tabbing and i also usually have my other screen looking at my music or a browser-based game. ( I like to play 3 or 4 different games at a time.) More options is always better. I'm sure that Lars has already thought about this though and has already begun work on implementing it if he hasn't already.

Also, imo, fullscreen helps with the full immersion atmosphere. With really good games I tend to turn my other monitor off and my phone and other devices off until i'm finished with that game. I feel that if a person or group of people spend their time making something amazing, i should give them my full attention when playing their game. I'm not downing anyone's posts I'm just sharing my thoughts and ideas.

I totally second that Notion... I run 4 Screens on my PC, Fullscreen would be cool. Not to mention how cool it would be to see multi-Screen support. (Like having the map on one Screen, or the inventory, or whatever...)

Definitely!

With how common multiple screens are, I always loved the idea of being able to utilize secondary screens as secondary data sources, and not just an expansion of the current view port. A map, a quest journal, something.

I would love nothing more than to be able to add a smaller touch screen and just use that for everything non-viewport related. Pie-in-the-sky, I know, but still is fun to dream. :D

But what if we set our resolution that low?

I'm just fucking with you guys. :D

I can't imagine why Unity wouldn't support borderless windowed fullscreen on multiple monitors. I haven't tested it on multiple monitors yet but I'll give it a shot soon.

You guys have some good point about not wanting to use this option. But for me its not about not giving my full attention to the game, its just that when u got a slower computer and if u ALT+Tab sometimes a game crashes, ur PC freezes or when u go back to the game in fullscreen sometihng is bugged. I had this with plenty games. So i want the borderless windowed fullscreen mode to prevent that and just be able to quickly check my mail on my second screen while Frontiers is still in fullscreen on my main monitor(and thus not minimized).

This is the exact reason why I play games with borderless windowed fullscreen. I have two monitors and usually keep emails, IM, Skype, etc on one window. When I play a game I want to immerse myself in I turn that monitor off, but if I turn it on to check something, I want to be able to alt-tab without wreaking havoc on the game or my computer.

Borderless Windowed Fullscreen solves that issue pretty well.
I drink the sweat and tears of fan speculation.

Holy balls.

If Frontiers was in 1280x720 I would poke my eyeballs out!

1900x1800 is usually the standard, native HD resolution.

I second border-less windowed full-screen because it usually performs a lot faster than actual full-screen and anti-aliasing is less of a concern.

Me thinks it might be another clue for what the original name of Frontiers was... especially since it was (almost) obviously a troll.
