Sitting animation?

PostPosted by postnjam » Fri Sep 20, 2013 2:09 pm

Just wondering, will there be chairs to sit on in Frontiers, It would be awesome to have that classic adventurer feel of going into a pub/inn , sitting down with your mates, having some beers and discussing where you'll go next.

I saw that you can get into a bed, so I don't see why it wouldn't be hard.

One should be able to sit on any reasonable surface, like a chair, bench, tree stump, sack of potatoes...

Good, my biggest immersion breaker is when I'm in a multiplayer game and people try to roleplay by crouching to make it look like they are sitting and they hover.

That was an expression of hope, not a confirmation :P

They're even more versatile than I'd thought!

I think Lars only has himself to blame.

I just got finished adding sitting animations to the NPC avatar controllers. I well be adding them to player controllers as well.

Thankfully all my models are mecanim-capable so I'm able to purchase off-the-shelf mocap animations. Otherwise animation would totally overwhelm me.

Just one tip though: the phrase 'I don't see why it would be so hard' sends me into a hulk like rage.

I think it's because many people assume that things like animations are standardized. There are many different animation types, modes, and so forth. It's not as simple as adding something like reflective water or a moving sun.

As a tinkerer of code, I understand your frustration Lars.

The potato thing started when I foolishly labeled a 'general' forum as 'everything except potatoes,' totally on a whim.

Of course it was immediately filled with potato related content. The rest is history.
