yay! needs some mod_rewrite loving though :P

p.s. re: AAD press kit, the gradient on the AAD logo decodes badly (severely noticable banding) on firefox mobile (Honeycomb, HTC Flyer). In addition to my general suggestion for vector-format images, I'd perhaps suggest the availability of a "flatter" background image ?

Looks good.

Just a teeny tiny bit of criticism, the header picture is TOO BIG. Proof: http://imgur.com/26Db8pC

At least that's my opinion, so take it with a grain of salt.

Suggested fix:

Code: Select all
header#branding img{
    max-height:370px;
    transition:max-height 0.1s;
}
header#branding #site-title{
    transition: padding-top 0.1s ;
}
header#branding #site-description{
    transition: padding-bottom 0.1s, margin-bottom 0.1s ;
}
@media (max-height:800px){
    header#branding img{
        max-height:0;
    }
    header#branding #site-title, header#branding #site-description{
        position:relative !important;
        clip: auto ;
    }
    header#branding #site-title{
        padding-top: 1em ;
    }
    header#branding #site-description{
        padding-bottom: 1em ;
        margin-bottom: 0 ;
    }
}

edited to account for site title/description.

I had suggested this quite a while ago but Lars is being stubborn about his silly diagonal text. =)

Oh you guys and your silly horizontal logos. You're thinking like programmers, not artists. The diagonal logo puts entirely different ideas in people's heads. (Cue pithy quips.)

That said, the layout is a bit clunky. I'll muck with the formatting a bit in the coming weeks and kill all that extra padding, and yes maybe shave a bit off the top & bottom of the header as well.

I should note that the CSS tweaks I posted let you switch between the two logos depending on screen size, so you both have your way :P

If it stays anywhere close to that bulky, can we at least have a small button to turn it off completely?
With an old-fashioned cookie so it stays off?

The current top bar might be all kinds of artsy (and I freely admit that I don't understand in which ways) but "no top bar" would be an improvement to it.

I think the new site looks great !! I like it just the way it is. :)

Must have missed some of the screen shots before, because there were a couple I don't remember seeing before.

Overall very nice job, Lars

I like the large banner, but it gets irritating to scroll past on every page. Maybe a compromise, with the large one appearing on the main page, but the small one on all the others? Is that feasible?

Overall, though, good job. It'll be nice to have a single location for everything! It was getting a bit hard to find it all.

While tinkering with something today, I found a design that had a much more chunkier header banner: http://typedarray.org/concurrency-in-javascript/ :P

No sir, that's beyond chunky. That's morbidly obese! Good god, and by a programmer no less!

Any way to make it so it doesn't force the mobile browser? I check "desktop view" and I'm still forced to use the mobile site. Which is unpleasant.

What device/browser are you using? I've got Firefox on HTC Flyer/Honeycomb, seems to behave fine.

Stock browser on Note 2. It is nearly always able to pull desktop versions of sites for me. : /
I've got Firefox but rarely use it.

Edit: I guess it IS the regular site... just looks wonky in portrait.

Edit edit: fixed link... possibly? Grrr

I hate the internet. I'm at work. I'll try, likely just as unsuccessfully, to post it later.
Link works fine for me and it's my "public" folder. Ffuuuu.

Edit: Fixed prior link... one hopes. : ))

The website loaded slow for me. Did a quick WHOis.. I think its because the server is no the west side of the US and I'm on the east..... or its under heavy load.
Also i noticed your forums are still under ProPhPBB. While i'm not trying to hate of them shouldn't the forums be on your domain? If you need want/need help transferring the forum let me know!
