So, What are you Playing Right Now?

Just like the title says - while we wait (im)patiently for Frontiers, what are you darlings playing? Feel free to leave your opinion of it. Try not to leave spoilers. If you don't know if it's a spoiler, don't talk about it (hopefully in the future we'll get a spoiler code but until then, lets be polite)

Right now, I'm playing Witcher 1 for the first time. I've heard awesome things about Witcher 2 and just recently got it (wooo, steam sale :D ) so I thought I'd try the first game before playing the second.

It's pretty good - I'm not much of a hack-n-slasher, but the fight style is easy enough to master. Only big gripe is all the Male Gaze (yes, it's cool we get sexy cards of our lady loves, but dude, I prefer sausage to dumplings  )

Also - Rogue Legacy, a nice little dungeon roguelike.

Skyrim. I'm trying to play it, anyway. Fucking Spriggans...

I'm refreshing my memory on how they handled lakes and streams, I remember I liked what they did but I couldn't remember why.

System Shock 2 for now, but I've got a computer waiting at the new place I'm moving into. It's a new, powerful computer, that will be able to run Skyrim on maxed settings and with a whole bunch of graphic mods, without stuttering at all. All I'm waiting for is to get the Internet over there, so that I can put up Steam and download the game.

Ni No Kuni and Dust: An Elysian Tail.

I'm a sucker for great art accompanying a good game.

Fallout 3. I know, I know... Trust me, I have a savegame backed up in my external HDD with 800 hours clocked.

Thing is, with the Fallout Wanderer's Edition I've found a whole new reason to replay the game. It's the only Overhaul Mod for this 2008 game that I actually like. My current save already has 92 hours on it and I'm still only level 19.

Might and Magic VI... because I found it on GOG and have very fond memories of playing it around 15yrs ago :). Was playing Icewind Dale for the same reason but hit a boss that was killing one of my characters dead dead dead and you can only recruit 1st level replacements... needed a break from reloading and spending whole afternoon trying again :P

Is the PC version that much better than XB360 cuz of the mods? I have been trying to replay a 1 INT/CHR/LCK, and other combos of 1, game. But I can't find a combo of skills that yield a different play-through. No matter what skills you have, you can pretty much do anything. I haven't played F3:NV though, I have herd it is different. I miss the F1 & F2 play-through with 1INT where you are a moron, it's soooo funny.

Rift and Warhammer Online (yep, it hasn't been shut down yet). I was playing Defiance, but that game is absolute garbage. There's so many bugs that it's not fun. DUST 514 on occasion. The EVE universe is absolutely amazing!

Lars, have you seen CCP's Carbon engine yet? I'm excited to see how the engine runs landscapes.

IMO New Vegas was very boring and restrictive. I enjoyed Fallout 3 a whole lot more.

Yeah, New Vegas had a lot of problems. Fallout 3 was clearly the better game.

And yes, the mods make for a very different game. The Wanderer's Edition overhaul I mentioned is amazing in that respect.

I'm playing Morrowind, Terraria, and The Secret World.

Oh - and tabletop RPGs. Weekly D&D game, biweekly Savage Worlds, and soon to GM a weekly homebrew urban fantasy game. I'm also running a solo Hollow Earth Expedition game for my fiance. :D

TSW is amazing! If I had more time, I'd likely try to get back in a Cabal and level some more. There's a lot of great aspects of that game, and I hope it gets more recognition than it's been receiving.

It's probably the best MMO I had played in the last uhh... decade or so. And I played a few.

Very varied quests there and an interesting "leveling" system.

Like Matthew, I picked up Just Cause 2 and every last bit of DLC from Steam for under 5 bucks. Fun game, HORRIBLE voice acting. I know it's a pretend island... but the accent they made up is absurd.

And whose brilliant idea was it to put a cross around the neck of the player character? As interesting and conflicting (but somehow fitting) as it is to rain down fire on people you disagree with from a military helicopter whilst brandishing such a symbol, it's not something i'm interested in doing. *downloads Assassins Creed skins immediately* : p

It's an over-the-top B-movie made into a game. :D

It's the type of thing you can pick up and put down for mindless violence. I was laughing more at the game than anything else.

What's TSW like? I have been trying to find a new MMO to play but I can't get into WoW or anything. I used to play Runescape, stopped in '07... too grindy. WoW also seemed this way. Are all MMO's super grindy? Grant it, since '07 I have only tried a handful. Anything I play for an hour or two to get a level I just instantly stop playing.

TSW is not grindy at all. I actually play the game in phases because there's no grind to it. (I like grind, but TSW is awesome enough I can get over there not being any  ) The stories are really cool, building your character is really cool, investigation missions are really, really, really cool. It makes you think. :)

If you want to PM me your email address I'll shoot you a buddy key that will give you 72 hours of free game time.

That would be delightful. Is it 72 hours of contiguous playtime or am I free to play as sparatically as I desire? Wow, no grindy in an MMO? *tries to wrap head around that* :dunno:

Seriously though.. I'm excited. Thanks for your kindness

It's contiguous time, so once you apply the code a timer starts. Once it ends, you need to buy the game to keep playing, but there's no subscription so once you buy it, you can play it whenever. There are monthly updates to purchase, which I think cost around $10. I don't know because as a lifer, I get them free.

Just sent you a key!

There's no grind because there's no levels. It's an ability based game. You earn xp and buy abilities, and the xp comes pretty fast. The quests are also repeatable, so we could play together, which is another thing that I love. Most MMOs, once you advance, you can't really go back and play with new friends who just start out unless you make a new character too.

Haha, you're right, the community is horrible, one time im a cheater, the next time i have to kill myself.. :?
Next to that i find the game verry amusing. Since i got gold i know that at least in ranked, i have players with brains.
